Impressive home dominance of Beşiktaş against Galatasaray at Tüpraş Stadium

As part of the 29th week of the Turkish Süper Lig, Beşiktaş football team will host Galatasaray on Saturday, March 29. This match will be held at Tüpraş Stadium, where Beşiktaş has shown outstanding performance against its long-time rival since the stadium's renovation in 2016.

In the past eight seasons, the two teams have faced each other eight times in this stadium. The result of these encounters has been six wins for Beşiktaş, one win for Galatasaray, and one draw.

In four of these eight matches, Beşiktaş did not allow Galatasaray to score a single goal. Also, in seven out of eight games, they managed to score, recording a total of 14 goals scored and only 5 conceded.

Draw in the first match

The first derby at the renovated Tüpraş Stadium was held in the 2016-2017 season. This match ended in a 2-2 draw. Galatasaray went ahead 2-0 in the first half with goals from Eren Derdiyok and Bruma, but in the second half, Marcelo and Cenk Tosun scored for Beşiktaş to level the game.

Six consecutive victories for Beşiktaş

In the 2017-2018 season, Beşiktaş secured a decisive 3-0 win. The goals in this match were scored by Cenk Tosun, Dusko Tosic, and Alvaro Negredo.

In the following two seasons, Beşiktaş won with identical 1-0 results at home. In the 2018-2019 season, Adem Ljajic scored the only goal from a penalty, and in the 2019-2020 season, Umut Nayir scored with a header.

In the next two seasons, although Galatasaray scored first, Beşiktaş managed to finish the game in their favor. In the 2021-2022 season, Galatasaray's goal by Cicaldau was answered by two goals from Cyle Larin.

In the 2022-2023 season as well, the goal by Mauro Icardi put Galatasaray ahead, but Beşiktaş responded with goals from Romain Saiss, Amir Hadziahmetovic, and Vincent Aboubakar to win the match 3-1.

First home defeat of Beşiktaş against Galatasaray

The only home loss of Beşiktaş against Galatasaray at Tüpraş Stadium came in the last season. While Beşiktaş was going through one of the worst periods in its history, they were defeated 1-0.

The only goal of the match was accidentally scored by Moatasem Al-Musrati, a Beşiktaş player, into his own net, giving Galatasaray the three points. This was the first time Beşiktaş failed to score against Galatasaray at home.
