8 Suspects in Soccer Player Kaan Kundakci Murder Case Referred to Court
A new development has occurred in the investigation into the armed attack that resulted in the death of 21-year-old soccer player Kubilay Kaan Kundakci (Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı) in Umraniye (Ümraniye), Istanbul. Out of the 10 suspects detained, 8 have been referred to the courthouse following police procedures, and the weapon believed to have been used in the murder was seized.
The investigation continues regarding the death of Kundakci on the night of March 19. Police teams, who launched a wide-scale operation after the incident, detained several individuals believed to be linked to the attack.
The Attack Occurred While Waiting Inside a Vehicle
The incident took place on Siddik (Sıddık) Street in Umraniye. Allegedly, Vahap Canbay from the rap group Canbay & Wolker went to the front of the studio where Aleyna Kalaycioglu (Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu) was located, accompanied by his friend Kundakci, to meet Kalaycioglu. While the group was waiting inside the vehicle, one of the suspects arrived at the scene and opened fire.
Kubilay Kaan Kundakci, who was seriously injured as a result of the gunfire, passed away at the hospital despite all interventions.
Murder Weapon Seized
Istanbul Police conducted operations at numerous addresses to capture the suspects who fled after the attack. Suspects including Alaattin Kadayifcioglu (Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu), Aleyna Kalaycioglu, and Zuhal Kalaycioglu (Zuhal Kalaycıoğlu) were detained. It was reported that the weapon considered to be used in the murder was also seized during the investigation.
Details of the Attack Revealed
Investigations determined that while Kundakci was in the parked vehicle, one of the suspects, who arrived in two separate vehicles, opened fire. The suspects were found to have fled the scene rapidly after the attack.
Number of Detainees Increased to 10
In the later stages of the investigation, the number of detainees rose to 10. It was learned that Izzet Yildizhan (İzzet Yıldızhan) and businessman Bilal Kadayifcioglu (Bilal Kadayıfçıoğlu) were also among those detained.
8 Suspects Referred to Court
Eight of the suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the courthouse from the Gayrettepe Public Security Bureau in the morning hours. The multi-faceted investigation into the incident is reported to be ongoing.
