The first court session of Ayşe Barım, a talent manager, who is facing charges of "aiding an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey" in connection with the Gezi Park protests, was held at the 26th Criminal Court of Istanbul.

Barım denied all accusations, but the court ruled for her continued detention. After the verdict, the celebrities present at the hearing left the courtroom with tearful eyes.

Continued Detention and Adjournment Until October

This hearing was held while Ayşe Barım has been in detention since January 27 over the same charges. The judge decided she should remain in custody, and the next hearing was scheduled for October 1.

Ayşe Barım’s Emotional Defense in Court

The court session was full of emotional moments. While crying, Barım said:

I did not direct anyone. I’m not their boss, just their manager. I speak with my actors every day; that’s part of my job. When I saw them there, I went too. Just like the July 15 rally or the February 6 earthquake, I was there only to support them.

She emphasized that she was simply doing her job and had no political intention.
